As the new year kicks into full gear, I want to highlight some exciting initiatives to come in 2015. Please take a minute to watch this video message for some important updates.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your hard work and steadfast efforts to take action for children and families across the country and your commitment to PTA. 2015 is going to be a great and exciting year for the association, and I look forward to continuing our work together.
We would be honored if President Thornton would share this message at our national education convention in Portland, Maine (July 7 & 8)! The “Maine Event: A National Conference on Positive School Culture and Climate” will focus on important topics like: school safety; eliminating bullying behaviors; increasing on-time graduation; social justice and equity for struggling or under-resourced learners; alternatives to punitive disciplinary practices (Restorative Justice); ending the School-to-Prison Pipeline; building and sustaining positive professional and organizational culture… Keynote addresses will be given by: Frank DeAngelis (Columbine High School Principal); Dr. Ross Greene (author of “The Explosive Child” and “Lost at School”); U.S. Senator, Angus King; Dr. John Mark Froiland (“Dr. Happiness”), and we have many spectacular workshops lined up for the break-out sessions!
Please consider sending a representative from the National PTA to provide a keynote or a workshop session at this exciting event! Contact me at the email above or at 207-831-6586 Here is a link to registration: http://cpinnovationme.blogspot.com
